Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving!
A wonderful time of year in the American calendar where one takes a reality check and thanks God, the universe, whoever they feel indebted to, for what they have. They count their blessings and give and give and give...they help feed the homeless in soup kitchens around the country, they give to charities, they drop fod off at centres all over the place which will end up being distributed to those less fortunate and then when they've done all that, they eat plenty, watch the footie or Macy's Parade and doze off in front of the tv. That's a generalisation, but the first bit about giving isn't.
Here, we had a wonderful spread with the most delicious moussaka known to man full of sweet potatoes and all other ingredients one should eat on this day followed by pecan pie. Very traditional and how great to be with those so beloved.
What a wonderful festival. No pressies, no decorations, no religion...just togetherness around a table to share in love, good will and warmth.
That's why, as someone cleverly pointed out, it's called Thanksgiving and not Thanksgetting.
Love, Sarah
